Occitan

Occitan is a Romance language spoken in Occitania in Southern France, the Occitan Valleys of Italy, Monaco and in the Aran Valley of Spain. Only in the Aran Valley is Occitan an official language. Modern Occitan is considered the closest relative of Catalan. There are six dialects of Occitan: Provençal, Gascon, Languedoc, Limousin, Alpine and Auvergne.
