Arabic Press Release

SMS IN ARABIC AND OTHER MID-EAST LANGUAGES NOW POSSIBLE WITH EATONI’S LETTERWISE

Easy to use, easy to learn, world's most linguistically diverse predictive text-entry software now supports 150 different languages

NEW YORK – People in Iraq, Israel and across the Mid-east could be sending SMS messages in the language they speak at home using LetterWise, the predictive text-entry software from Eatoni Ergonomics, Inc. that makes it easy to type text on phones and other handheld devices, Howard Gutowitz, Eatoni Ergonomics CEO said today.

LetterWise brings the joy of simplified text-entry to Arabic, Azerbaijani, Hebrew, Kurdish (Kurmanji), Kurdish (Sorani), Pashto, Persian , Sindhi Turkish, Turkmen, Urdu, and Yiddish.

Eatoni Ergonomics is a developer of predictive text-entry solutions that make it easy to type on handheld devices. Currently 150 different languages are supported by LetterWise, making LetterWise by far the most linguistically diverse text entry system on the planet.

“Every recent study shows that data transmission, such as SMS, is the highest growth income driver for carriers and phone manufacturers, Gutowitz said. “The easier it is to text, the more text messages will be sent, and ARPU (average rate per user) will continue to climb.

Gutowitz said surveys show that when given the opportunity people who send text messages greatly prefer Eatoni’s easy to use predictive text-entry solution LetterWise over word-guessing solutions such as T9.

After stringent user testing Panasonic, Philips and Siemens all announced new SMS-enabled cordless phones equipped with LetterWise at the recent CeBIT conference, joining AEG, Alcatel, Brondi, BT, France Telecom, and Topcom. Mobile phones equipped with LetterWise are available from BenQ.

Ease of use, a minimal memory requirement – 3k of memory compared to 60k for word guessing solutions like T9 – as well as Eatoni’s broad linguistic offering have all been cited by manufacturers who have licensed LetterWise for their phones.

“For us, the decision to use LetterWise really came down to our engineers, said Philip’s Alberto Zannettin. "They discovered LetterWise to be easier to use than any of the other existing predictive text-entry solutions, and requiring astonishingly little memory. We believe this application will be a big win for us in the marketplace.

“More and more Europeans are discovering the joy of texting with LetterWise, frequently in whatever language they speak at home, Gutowitz said. “We hope the same will soon be true for the rest of the world. For a full list of languages supported by LetterWise, an on-line demo, and additional information about Eatoni Ergonomics, please visit the company website at www.eatoni.com.
