Persian |
Persian is a member of the Iranian branch of Indo-European languages. It is spoken in Iran (Persia), Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the Persian Gulf states. Persian is derived from the language of the ancient Persian people. Modern Persian appeared during the 9th century. In addition, the language is written in a version of the Arabic script and is full of words of Arabic origin.
