Bambara/Dioula

Bambara, also known as Bamanankan, is a language spoken in Mali. It is the mother tongue of the Bambara ethnic group ( 2,700,000 people). Bambara is currently widely used in Mali. More specifically, about 80% of the country's population use Bambara as either a first or second language. In addition, it bears an acute resemblance with the Dioula language, which is spoken by fewer people residing mainly in Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, and Gambia. In fact, the differences between the two languages are minimal.
