Yucatec Maya is a Mayan language spoken in the Yucatán Peninsula, northern Belize and parts of Guatemala. Speakers in Belize are gradually shifting to Spanish. Many are concerned about language loss, as most speakers are currently older adults. In order to deal with this situation, they are trying to start classes for the youth.
